The church-run girls’ school was first administered by Dominican sisters. In 1896 it gained the status of an Escuela Normal de Maestras, training women as teachers; the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres took over in 1905. The institution later became Rosary College and St. Paul College of Ilocos Sur. After the school moved to larger campuses, the building took on commercial use; a commemorative plaque and the old Rosary College sign preserve its educational history.
