Simbaan a Bassit

Vigan’s UNESCO nomination dossier dates the Catholic cemetery chapel to 1852 and highlights its Baroque facade crowned by an espadaña with openings for bells.

Dedicated to Santo Cristo Milagroso de Vigan, whose image devotees call Apo Lakay, the chapel remains part of the city’s living Catholic tradition. Its compact façade has mission-church and Baroque influences, while the four-bell espadanya makes it distinctive among regional funerary chapels. Inside, the cruciform plan has a main altar and two side altars.
